Release from the Belleville Fire Department
Belleville Fire Department received a 911 call at approximately 5:40 Sunday morning reporting a smoke alarm sounding and the occupant could smell smoke.
Belleville Fire Fighters from Stations 1&2 responded to the location to find flames venting from the roof. Quick actions of the arriving crews prevented extensive damage to the residential complex. The fire was contained to the upper level and attic area.
The lone occupant was able to evacuate the building safely and there were no injuries. The fire investigation is ongoing and the damage is estimated at approximately $80,000.
