The Mayor of Brighton, Mark Walas, intends to run for a third term.
A report in Northumberland News by John Campbell quotes Walas as saying he will run but has not yet filed nomination papers.
He is candid in admitting that council in recent years has been less than cohesive but says what the community needs is not a new mayor but a new council.
The mayor says he’s followed conflict of interest guidelines and wishes some on council would stop attacks on staff.
Councillor Brian Ostrander has already filed his papers to run for mayor of Brighton.
