Over $50 million is being invested into a former industrial site in Napanee, which once housed the Gibbard Furniture factory.
The residential and commercial project is called the Gibbard District, and will include 150 condo units, shopping, a walkway, all with a view of the Napanee River.

Project spokesperson Don Jackson says it is the uniqueness of the property that makes it so appealing.
Jackson says there are components of the original Gibbard site they are keeping.
He says the urban location, with an industrial site, on a beautiful river, hits so many check marks with what they do.
Jackson adds that Napanee does not have anything like this. There are homes and apartments, but this is something very different.
Jackson says the Town of Greater Napanee was great to work with to make this happen.
Gibbard Furniture was a pre-Confederation factory.
According to the Toronto Star, 70 Canadian embassies and high commissions around the world are decorated with Gibbard furniture. Bobby Orr sleeps in a Gibbard bed. John A. Macdonald is rumoured to have used a Gibbard desk.
Doornekamp Construction out of Odessa will be doing the construction on site.
