A proposed expansion to the Quinte’s Isle Campark did not sit well with many residents in Prince Edward County.
At a packed planning meeting at Shire Hall on Wednesday night, a number of concerns were raised regarding the proposed Pebble Beach East expansion in Athol.
The project would see 337 park model trailer sites created on approximately 80 acres of land.
Acting Mayor Dianne O’Brien says one resident raised the concern about how many more people this would bring to an already densely populated area in the summer season.
This would bring the total number of sites available on the property to 1,000; a major concern for residents in the area who say this hasn’t been well thought out.
Residents’ concerns varied from traffic, to the loss of the habitat, increased noise pollution and a lack of water availability for those currently in the peak of tourist season.
A staff report will be brought back to council for further consideration on this issue.
