Director of Education Mandy Savery-Whiteway addressed some concerns raised by the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario President regarding the Sophiasburgh Hub extension.
Last month, the Student Enrolment/School Capacity Committee voted to grant the Sophiasburgh Opportunity group an extension to August 31.
Savery-Whiteway says those concerns were addressed in a meeting with President Dave Henderson .
Henderson raised concerns about potentially moving students and staff mid-year if the funding isn’t found, along with other concerns ranging from running a business in a wing of the school, security and alignment with Ministry funding.
Savery-Whiteway feels the meeting went well and says if they are in a position where they need to consider next steps they’ll look at the best way to go about moving students and staff, as well as the timing of that.
