Residents living around the recycling depot in Trenton hate windy days.
A resident complained to Quinte West’s Public Works Committee that garbage that was to be processed at the West Street plant was flying all over the place during the windstorm last Friday.
Mayor of Quinte West Jim Harrison says the Friday event was made worse because Quinte Waste Solutions was forced to store recycling material outdoors because of a breakdown inside the plant.
While the material outside was covered up, the powerful gusts of wind blew the covering off.
Mayor Harrison says the city is now discussing better methods of controlling recycling on windy days, suggesting higher fences around the property could go a long way toward making life better for nearby residents.
