Belleville Police Service responded to 63 calls for service from the May 8, 2018 at 5 a.m. to May 9, 2018 at 5 a.m.
Warrants
On the 8th of May, Belleville Police Service attended a west end residence where a 49-year-old Belleville male was arrested on outstanding warrants for possession of and making available child pornography. He is being held in custody for a bail hearing on the 9th of May. Names are being withheld at this time.
On the 8th of May, Belleville Police Service also attended another residence in the city’s west hill and arrested a male who had numerous outstanding arrest warrants from Belleville and other police services for charges including theft and breach of probation. The 41-year-old Belleville resident is being held in custody for a bail hearing on the 9th of May.
Domestic Assault
Shortly after 10 a.m. on the 8th of May, police were called to a report of a domestic incident in the city’s west end. As a result of the investigation, police are now looking for a 21-year-old Belleville male for assault. There were no serious injuries sustained as a result of the assault and police are not releasing the suspect’s name at this time to protect the identity of the victim.
Robbery
At approximately 10:15 p.m. police responded to the city’s core in regards to a report of a robbery. Investigation revealed that while walking in the area of West Moira St. and Everett St. a 23-year-old city resident was physically attacked and had his backpack stolen. The victim’s head phones were also broken during the attack and his attacker fled on foot towards downtown. Thanks to an observant passerby who followed the suspect, police arrested a 29-year-old Belleville resident on Front St. The suspect is currently being held in custody on charges of robbery and mischief. Police were also able to recover the stolen backpack thanks again to the good samaritan who got involved. The victim suffered only minor injuries during the attack.
Breach of Probation
At 2 a.m. on the 9th of May, police received a call with regards to a female who was breaching conditions of both her probation and her undertaking, by being present at an address in the east end that she was not allowed to attend and for not obeying her curfew. The 32-year-old Belleville resident was arrested and held for a bail hearing for the second time now in the past ten days on those charges.
