Quick response from the Brighton Fire Department last night saved a home from being destroyed by fire.
Residents of a single storey house on Meade Street, near downtown Brighton, heard noise and discovered some of the back wall of their house on fire around 8:30 last night.
Firefighters arrived and contained the damage to the back wall and some of the attic.
Brighton Fire Chief Rick Caddick says about $70,000 damage was done.
A dog and several reptiles were removed from the house safely.
No one was injured.
The cause is not suspicious but is under investigation.
