Brighton council will be listening closely to a presentation from Northumberland County at its meeting Monday night.
The Municipality of Brighton owns a lightly used sideroad, called the Pinewood School Road, while Northumberland County owns
an old single lane bridge on the road spanning Cold Creek.
The county is recommending replacing the bridge, which is coming to the end of its life, and says it will cost around $650,000 to do the work.
Monday, Northumberland County officials will ask Brighton council to pick up half of the cost of the bridge replacement and to also take over ownership of the bridge once the work is complete.
The county plans on doing the same with other small bridges in other communities as well.
Brighton council meets at 6:30 Monday night in council chambers.
