Belleville Police have released the results of their Gun Amnesty Month initiative, collecting unwanted and illegal guns and ammunition, with the aim of improving public safety.
Staff Sergeant René Aubertin says the service collected a total of 15 guns, including seven hand guns, eight rifles and six pellet guns, along with 2,100 rounds of ammunition.
Inspector Chris Barry led the initiative and says “all of the unwanted firearms could have been used to commit crimes had they fallen into the wrong hands” and is thanking residents for their cooperation throughout the program.
All of the guns will be safely disposed of.
