A walk-a-thon is scheduled near the construction site of an industrial wind farm in Prince Edward County Tuesday.
The Alliance to Protect Prince Edward County and the Prince Edward County Field Naturalists have organized the walk-a-thon in protest of the nine-turbine WPD White Pines project.
Tuesday is May 1, which is the date any construction on the site is to be halted to protect the endangered Blanding’s Turtle which is active in the area from May to October.
The Walk-a-Thon for the Blanding’s Turtle begins at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Royal Road and Lighthall Road in South Marysburgh.
Meanwhile, APPEC was in court in Toronto asking for an injunction to immediately stop any work on the wind farm site.
Details on what happened at the hearing aren’t known yet.
