There’s a major milestone coming up tomorrow for the Belleville General Hospital Auxiliary.
The BGHA will mark 80 years of service to Belleville’s hospital, after being founded in 1938 and raising more than $4 million for hospital equipment and patient comfort services during that time.
Last year alone, the BGHA’s 300 volunteers contributed nearly 37,000 hours of service to patients at BGH, operating more than 20 programs and services.
BGHA volunteers are responsible for the gift shop, library cart and also run the Opportunity Shop thrift store in Belleville’s Market Square.
There are events scheduled throughout the year to commemorate the milestone, including a Volunteer Appreciation Tea tomorrow for all BGHA members.
