A long-awaited move by a secret Canadian military unit to CFB Trenton from a base near Ottawa may never happen.
According to a report in the National Post, senior military commanders are considering several options and that includes the Joint Task Force 2, or JTF2, remaining near Ottawa.
Ten years ago, the Conservative federal government announced JTF2 would move to CFB Trenton and land was expropriated to make room for them.
According to the article, a Special Forces Commander now says the demands on the unit have changed in the last decade and it may not make sense to move it to CFB Trenton. Costs of construction on the project have ballooned as well over the years.
A final decision on a location for JTF2 has not been made but is expected in coming months.
