Belleville Mayor Taso Christopher talked about a vision of the city which showcases the waterfront.
At the Travelodge Wednesday morning, Mayor Christopher gave a State of the City address to the Belleville Chamber of Commerce, and also discussed possible uses of major pieces of land and waterfront.
A theme or splash park for Zwick’s Park, an upgraded Yacht Club, a tourist area for southern Coleman Street, a market inside the Memorial Arena, and massive commercial and residential builds, were all proposals he commented on.
His main theme for the talk was, “If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together.”
Christopher also showed proposals for an expanded waterfront trail, a legacy project, changes to Jane Forrester Park, and a Riverfront Commons.
During his talk, he also highlighted infrastructure successes of the past several years, including the downtown upgrades, the new Bay Bridge, the creation of three new fire halls, the renovations to the city hall foyer, and recent ribbon cutting for the Maitland Drive. Mineral Road project.
