Officials in Prince Edward County are calling last weekend’s trash bash a “smashing success”.
Residents in Picton and Ameliasburgh banded together to fill close to 20 yard waste disposal bins, 50 bags of garbage and another 30 bags of recycling, picked up off the ground in various areas.
In Milford, the yard waste bin was about half full, with 10 bags of garbage and recycling being dropped off there.
A number of groups took part in the event this year as well, including the Friends of Millennium Trail, who covered all 49 kilometres of the trail.
The 851 Prince Edward Air Cadet Squadron had about 25 of its members taking part in the cleanup on County Road 22 and the Recreation Outreach Centre cleaned up around downtown Picton.
Trash Bash results from Belleville, Quinte West and Tyendinaga haven’t been released yet.
