Two new subdivisions are in the works in Quinte West.
The committee approved the rezoning of two properties in Murray Ward following a City of Quinte West Planning Advisory meeting on Thursday night.
The property on the west side of Orchard Lane immediately south of the 401 has been rezoned from development to residential.
The property would be used for a subdivision development.
The second property that was rezoned to allow for a residential development is located on 2nd Dug Hill Road.
Both rezoning approvals will be in front of council next month for final approval.
The Planning Advisory Committee also approved a subdivision application for 2nd Dug Hill Road.
The subdivision would see 72 single homes, 34 semi-detached homes, 24 town homes and one apartment block.
Mark Klemencic of Klemencic Homes Inc. told the planning committee he is not sure what sort of dwelling will end up on the apartment block, whether it be apartments or senior housing, but stated it would be a multi-unit building.
Jennifer Current, Manager of Planning Services noted the apartment building would be a maximum of four storeys tall.
Mayor Jim Harrison says this is good news for Quinte West as there is a market there for new housing.
The plan will appear in front of council next month for approval.
The subdivision application for the property northeast of County Rd. 40 west of Orchard Lane was deferred and will come back to the Planning Advisory Committee at a later date.
