If you’re interested in nature, and especially our winged friends, the south shore of Prince Edward County is the place to be.
Cheryl Anderson of the Prince Edward County Field Naturalists pointed to several special birding events coming in future months at the Prince Edward Point Bird Observatory.
Anderson was speaking to Prince Edward County council’s Committee of the Whole Thursday.
All of the events, and more, are described in detail, along with maps, in the 2018 Nature Matters publication, funded partly by the council.
Prince Edward County’s south shore is designated as an Important Bird Area. Millions of birds and Monarch butterflies migrate through the area every year.
Events include a Spring Birding Festival, World Bird Day on May 12, and various guided birding hikes throughout the county.
