Dr. Ann Marie Vaughan can add another item to her resume.
On Wednesday morning, the Loyalist College President and CEO was named an Honorary Colonel of 426 (Transport) Training Squadron at 8 Wing Trenton.
Lieutenant-Colonel Brent Hoddinott called it a perfect match for both the Thunderbirds and Vaughan and said it would pay dividends.
“We look forward to working with her as an experienced instructor, manager and leader, while also showing her how we train and teach at the squadron. We must remain adaptable and innovative as we prepare aircrew and technicians for the future and I expect our relationship with HCol Vaughan will be mutually beneficial in this regard,” said Lieutenant-Colonel Hoddinott.
Vaughan told those in attendance she is deeply honoured to receive this recognition.
The responsibilities of honorary appointments include fostering esprit de corps, developing, promoting and sustaining strong community support for the unit, establishing and maintaining liaison with unit charities and associations, establishing and maintaining a liaison with the Commander as well as with other persons with honorary appointments, participating in parades and official functions in which the unit takes part, and advising the unit’s commander.
Vaughan says not all of it is about the social gatherings and ceremonial participation, but is about learning from each other.
Vaughan will be an honorary colonel for the next three years.
