There’s going to be a lot of pink being worn across the region tomorrow.
It’s International Day of Pink and people are encouraged to wear the colour to show shared belief in celebrating inclusivity, diversity and acceptance.
The Hastings Prince Edward School Board is taking part for the 10th year and spokesperson Kerry Donnell says the initiative builds momentum year after year.
This year the theme is “choose kind”.
Donnell says local workplaces will also be following the pink theme, after the Canadian Union of Public Employees, provincial elementary and secondary teacher’s federations and the Ontario Principal’s Council sold more than 2,500 pink shirts, with the “choose kind” message.
Donnell says the Day of Pink is a great way to show support for ongoing efforts to increase awareness of prevention initiatives for bullying, homophobia, racism and all forms of hatred.
