Quinte Conservation is warning shoreline residents on the Bay of Quinte and Lake Ontario of the high winds expected to hit the region Wednesday.
Water Resources Manager Christine McClure says, “It is predicted that the wind could reach 80 kilometres per hour which may cause wave action to reach heights up to two metres, potentially resulting in shoreline damage and erosion.”
Residents are advised to move any belongings away from their shores. Even with recent rainfall, flooding on river systems is not expected. However, ice movement may cause shoreline damage on inland lakes.
Nuisance flooding and ponding may occur in some areas and residents are reminded to make sure their sump pumps are in good working condition.
This message will be in effect until, or updated before, Thursday.
