A heroic story is coming out of the tragedy at a job site in Quinte West Monday.
Emergency crews were called around 2:30 p.m. to a new subdivision build at Orchard Lane and Telephone Road.
A worker in a trench had dirt collapse around him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
One owner of a contracting company tells Quinte News that several workers on site jumped to the aid of the victim, trying to pull the loose dirt out of the hole.
The source says Brandon Pulver, Chris Doolittle, Matt Demile, and Terry Langford, among others, jumped to the victim’s rescue.
One firefighter on scene also went in to assist, and ended up breaking his leg.
Despite how the situation turned out, heroes were there Monday afternoon.
