Quinte West OPP have confirmed a man has been killed in an accident on a construction site in the city Monday.
Emergency crews were called to a new subdivision at Orchard Lane and Telephone Road just before 2:30 p.m.
Exact details haven’t been released, but reports say the man was working near a trench with an excavator when the incident happened and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say the man was 55 years old but haven’t released his name.
One Quinte West firefighter injured his ankle jumping into the trench and was taken to Trenton Memorial Hospital.
The coroner’s office and Ministry of Labour have taken over the investigation.
