Belleville may soon have a coordinator dedicated to marketing the downtown area to attract investors, creating new businesses.
Now that revitalization of the downtown is nearing an end the city is looking for new investment in the area.
The final phase of the street reconstruction work began earlier this month
Manager of Economic Development and Strategic Initiatives Karen Poste told the Quinte Economic Development Commission Tuesday the idea would be to encourage new business opportunities and residential development.
It would be a two-year position. Poste says the marketing would involve local and outside investors, and concentrate on the downtown and the area surrounding it.
The proposal goes to city council’s next meeting, in April.
