Belleville is being asked to throw its support behind the University Hospitals Kingston Foundation once again.
A report to city council Monday night revealed that 25,000 city residents visited Kingston hospitals in 2016, more than 1,200 for surgeries.
A total of 650 Belleville residents went through emergency and 35 Belleville babies were born there in the last couple of years.
Council was asked to donated $118,908 yearly over the next five years.
The request was referred to the budget deliberations in April
Two major projects
Belleville council has approved the tender for $10.17 million (plus HST) to K Mulroney Trucking, for the Maitland Road Mineral Drive project.
It will include new water and sewer piping, new sidewalks on Mineral Road and street lighting on both roads, a left turn on Maitland Drive, along with a roundabout at Farnham and Maitland Drive.
Monday night, council approved a tender from National Structures Inc. at $1 million plus HST.
The company submitted the lowest tender, to redo the Moira River crossing, at Latta Drive, Hoskin Road and Scuttlehole Road.
