The Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board approved the tender for the renovations required to make Prince Edward Collegiate Institute a kindergarten to Grade 12 school.
The motion was brought forward on Monday night at the school board office.
The board had received three tenders for the work required.
K. Knudson Construction Ltd. was the winning bid at $1.92 million dollars.
Nick Pfeiffer, the Superintendent of Business Services says the work is expected to begin in approximately six weeks.
The renovations will see the creation of four kindergarten rooms, a renovation of the senior cafeteria for two special education classrooms, renovation of the lecture theatre for two classrooms and the addition of an elevator and accessible washroom.
