There should be a major change in the heart of downtown Madoc soon. At a presentation to realtors focused on the proposed six-storey commercial/condominium building to be located on the former site of the Hotel Quinte in Belleville it was announced that the developer FairTradeWorks had just purchased the property now known as the Village Square.
FairTradeWorks plans to build a seniors apartment building with around 22 units plus some commercial/retail space on the land at 56-64 Durham Street, now mostly vacant and known as the Village Square.
The mayor of Centre Hastings Tom Deline says the project is exactly what the community needs and will be a very welcome addition to the downtown.
Detailed planning for the project has just begun, but Mayor Deline says he doesn’t expect much delay from Hastings County’s Planning Department or council after a detailed site plan is presented.
