Brighton council is close to setting its budget for this year.
The proposed budget will be presented at council’s meeting Monday night.
It features an overall tax rate increase of 2.6%, which will translate into an extra $20.31 a month in taxes on an average house assessed at $256,000 in Brighton.
The municipal levy actually went up 4.6% but Northumberland County’s budget increase was just 2.2% and the education levy went down 2.5%.
