The group working to preserve the lighthouse at Presqu’ile Point is pushing ahead in the midst of a police fraud investigation.
The Presqu’ile Point Lighthouse Preservation Society announced in January it had been defrauded of about $70,000.
President Dave Sharp says a board member claimed responsibility and the police investigation is continuing.
Sharp says a $120,000 project to replace shingles and gothic windows is planned for this year.

He says the future steps are already planned.
Sharp says fundraising is beginning with a number of groups and businesses participating and a major charity auction will be held on June 23.
