It’s likely to be a long meeting of Prince Edward council Tuesday night.
No fewer than seven delegations, totalling eight people, plan to address council regarding a proposed
chicken growing operation along Victoria Road.
Most of the delegations will be speaking against it.
Prince Edward County staff has recommended approval of the new chicken barn, saying the application
doesn’t contravene any regulations governing new agricultural development.
And, Prince Edward County council will deal with another agricultural issue at the meeting.
President of the local Federation of Agriculture John Thompson, will speak to council in protest of an increase in the farm tax ratio to 25% of the residential ratio.
Farmers believe the increase is too high and will hurt some in the industry.
County staff is recommending council approve the 25% farm tax ratio.
Prince Edward County council meets Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Shire Hall.
