There will be a different way to get around the city this summer.
Pending council approval, there will be a seasonal historical trolley bus that will make stops at anunder-serviced portion of the city.
Chair of the Transit Operations Review Committee Jack Miller explains.
The route will take approximately 50 minutes to complete with stops at East Zwick’s Park, Corby Rose Garden, West Riverside Park and downtown Belleville.
Paul Buck, Manager of Transit Operations says he is hoping to make this project a net zero project with local businesses partnering with them.
A bus would be wrapped to look like a trolley and would also provide riders with a history lesson about local landmarks, aspects or contributions or events along the route.
The bus would begin operations in June and run until the end of August.
The bus would target tourists as tourist sponsors, hotels and partners would issue tickets for each guest for the bus route.
Passengers without a ticket will still be required to pay the flat rate of $2.50 per person.
No new buses or staff will be required for this project.
