Following a six week trial of new electric buses in Belleville, it’s a project Paul Buck is excited to support.
The Manager of Transit Operations appeared in front of the Transit Operations Review Committee on Wednesday night and says the savings alone are significant.
He told the committee the rider reviews were also quite positive.
The buses have a 12 year life expectancy and begin to pay for themselves after 11 years, which Buck says works out quite well as they can refurbish the buses after that 12 year period and then get them back on the road for another 10 years or so.
He says ideally there will be a request in 2019 to purchase electric buses with delivery in 2020.
