A gala named Fire and Ice turned out to be much more than just nice for The Children’s Foundation last night.
The Foundation’s 18th annual gala raised a record $140,000 in honour of this year’s Guardian Angels, Darrell and Carmen Smith of Investors Group Securities.
Last year’s gala raised $136,000.
The Children’s Foundation Executive Director Connie Reid said “the community is lucky to have generous people who give so much, not just in monetary donations, but of their valuable time, to help people in need.”
The gala is held to recognize people and organizations for their philanthropic efforts.
The Children’s Foundation provides programs and other supports for children and youth in Hastings, Prince Edward, and Northumberland Counties and is affiliated with Highland Shores Children’s Aid Society.
