A stop worker order has been issued against a wind power project just to our east.
Loyalist Township officials have issued the order against developers of the project on Amherst Island, being constructed by Windlectric Inc.
According to a report in the Kingston Whig-Standard, heavy construction vehicles have caused significant damage to haul routes in and out of the site and the road users agreement between the company and municipality give engineers the right to issue the stop work order, if damage to roads leaves them unsafe for public use.
Representatives from Windlectric’s parent company Algonquin Power say they “respectfully, but strongly disagree” with the order.
The company says it has repaired the roads and that the order will have a significant impact on the project’s completion.
