The new consolidated Kindergarten to Grade 8 school in Belleville will be at a very familiar location.
The Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board voted unanimously on Monday night to have the new school be built on the current site of the Queen Elizabeth School property.
Director of Education Mandy Savery-Whiteway says this is the first step they needed to take in order to get the ball rolling.
The School Board was given approval in January of this year for a $10.5 million funding allocation to create a school for 472 students.
Savery-Whiteway says the approval gets this very long process moving forward.
The tentative timeline sees the architectural design take place between April and December of this year. The design then will go to the Ministry of Education for approval with construction expected to begin in July 2019.
