More money is being put into the effort to assist the homeless in Belleville.
Hastings County’s Community and Human Service Committee is recommending that four city agencies be given money from the special provincial fund of $118,554, which the county receives each year for five years.
In addition, Hastings County received extra funding to bring the total available to nearly $178,000 this year.
Hastings Housing Resource Centre will receive $60,000 to continue to provide Intensive Case Manager Service working with homeless individuals to find permanent housing.
Belleville Community Trust gets almost $60,000 to assist individuals to reduce the risk of homelessness.
Canadian Mental Health Association requested $44,000 for staffing to support people living in CMHA transitional housing.
And the Salvation Army requested $13,000 to upgrade the kitchen used to provide lunches and meals for its lunch program and warm room.
The committee recommendations will go to Hastings County council which meets later this month.
