The end result will be a big improvement, but upgrading a section of a street causes problems, and one of them in a commercial district is the loss of parking spots.
On Monday, Belleville council will be asked to offer free two hour parking on the part of Bridge Street East between Pinnacle and Front Streets and along Pinnacle Street between Bridge and Dundas East.
It’s hoped the move will ease the pain caused by the loss of 49 parking spots along Front Street and in the Market Square as phase 3B of the downtown Belleville revitalization project gets underway early next month.
The work is expected to be finished in October.
