The provincial government has given Loyalist College’s Applied Research Centre for Natural Products and Medical Cannabis a financial boost.
The province has granted Loyalist $660,000 to expand research into commercially relevant, biologically active compounds to be used in the food and beverage industry.
Private industry partners will be adding another $660,000 bringing the total value of the project to 1.32 million dollars.
Currently, Loyalist College is the only college in the country to have a lab approved to conduct research involving marijuana.
