It may be the middle of winter, but work at the Glen Ross Lock 7 and Swing Bridge, over the Murray Canal in Quinte West, is steadily moving ahead.
The work is still on track for completion before the 2018 boating season begins.
Last week the bridge was jacked onto sliding rails where it will remain for a number of months while it undergoes rehabilitation.
An enclosure will be built around the bridge to not only create a good working environment, but it will allow for paint removal and structural steel repairs.
A steel form has been assembled for the concrete that will shape the new lock walls.
The pouring of concrete will begin in the coming weeks.
