Trent Port Marina in Quinte West showed a jump in the number of boaters last year, and attracted seasonal boaters from as far away as the Greater Toronto Area.
Most of the seasonal boaters were from Quinte West – 76% of them – and more than a third were return boaters.
The top 10 places of residence for seasonal boaters were: Quinte West, Prince Edward County, Belleville, Brighton, and the furthest away, the Greater Toronto Area.
A report to be presented to the Quinte West Corporate Finance Committee Wednesday night shows the average time transient boaters stayed at Trent Port Marina has nearly doubled since last year, sitting at 3.75 days.
Most of the transient boaters were from the United States, nearly 180, followed by the Greater Toronto Area, Quebec, and Southwestern Ontario.
Staff at the marina received a good rating from seasonal boaters – at 86% – but 80% of those same boaters rated the parking at the site as neutral to poor.
