A fifth set of portable jaws of life will be added to the trucks in Quinte West.
Fire Chief John Whelan got the approval from the Protective Services Committee on Tuesday night to purchase the jaws at a cost of $29,500.
Whelan says this piece of equipment is portable and battery operated, which makes it a little nicer for firefighters to work with.
The jaws will be added to the equipment at the Batawa station.
He also got approval to purchase a pierce pumper at a cost of $456,000 from Darch Fire.
Whelan says this pumper is a year old and was a demonstration model which means it can be included in the fleet immediately as well as saving the municipality $50,000.
The pumper will be stationed out of their main station in Trenton.
