A continuous improvement process pioneered and perfected by the hugely successful Toyota Motor Company is working its magic in the hospitals operated by Quinte Health Care.
The process is known as “kaizen” and brings together front line workers and managers to brainstorm ways to streamline and improve work flow and results.
President of Quinte Health Care Mary Clare Egberts says the kaizen sessions held over the past 18 months have led to measurable improvements in human resources, health records, and in the maternity ward.
Outgoing Chief of Staff Dr. Dick Zoutman had previously travelled to Japan to visit Toyota to learn how the process looked and worked.
