It’s nearing the deadline for the few remaining residents of the former Bel Marine Retirement Residence in Belleville’s east end.
The site had been shut down last year because of a number of safety issues in the building.
There are still some residents remaining who have yet to find other accommodations.
Director of Hastings County Community and Human Resources Erin Rivers says a number of agencies are working together to solve the problem and find homes for the final tenants before the February 28 deadline.
Rivers says the remaining tenants are a mixture of people on Ontario Works, social assistance and other supports.
New owners of the building on Dundas Street east, MLAM Property Inc. intend to renovate the facility.
