A major road construction project in Belleville’s east end has now gone out to tender.
The project is to connect Haig Road with Station Street, creating a major through roadway in the east end.
A recent information meeting held by the city revealed a split in public opinion.
Director of engineering Rod Bovay says residents of Hickory Grove and Oakridge Boulevard are anxious to see it happen.
Bovay says, “But others whose homes will back onto the Haig extension don’t really want the road to go through.”
The project is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
