The Special Investigations Unit is looking into a New Year’s Eve incident, in which a 60-year-old man was hurt, during an “interaction” with police.
Exact details of what happened weren’t released by the SIU, but investigators say officers responded to a call in an apartment at Moira and Sidney Streets, around 7:30 p.m. that night.
A man inside the apartment suffered serious injuries and was taken to Belleville General Hospital and then Kingston General Hospital for treatment.
Two investigators and one forensic investigator will look into the incident, to see if there are reasonable grounds to lay charges against police, due to the injuries.
The SIU has also identified one subject officer and three witness officers in the case.
