UPDATE @ 4:15 p.m.: OPP say all lanes are cleared, in both directions, on Highway 401 near Shannonville Road.
Drive slowly and don’t expect anything to move quickly on roads and highways today.
Both the east and westbound 401 are affected as cars and transports slide off of the highway because of slippery conditions.
Just before noon a jack-knifed tractor trailer was reported blocking all lanes of the 401 east of Shannonville Road.
OPP are now reporting the right lane is now open eastbound but a separate incident had all lanes westbound at Shannonville Road closed.
The OPP say the left lane westbound has since been re-opened near Shannonville Road.
Northumberland OPP are at the scene of a serious motor vehicle collision in the westbound lanes of Hwy 401 near mile marker #513 (east of Brighton exit #509) involving a tractor-trailer and a car.
The road has now been re-opened near Brighton.
The driver of the car has been transported to a nearby hospital with undetermined injuries.
Quinte West Fire Chief John Whalen says around 9:30 a.m. two transport trucks collided near Aikins Road.
There were no injuries in the collision.
