Jane Philpott, the Minister of Indigenous Services, MP Mike Bossio and representatives of the Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte met yesterday.
The four hour meeting included a tour of the water treatment plant, the wellness centre and the proposed site of the Shannonville water tower as well as a meeting with Chief R. Don Maracle and the Band Council.
Philpott said it’s encouraging to see the progress being made in areas like community wellness and at the water treatment plant.
Discussions included water, housing, long-term care and funding needs on Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory.
Maracle says he really appreciates the visit from the Minister and the Band Council looks forward to following up with her and her staff in the spring.
