A proposed new Belleville high school name has now been made public, prior to a school board vote next week.
Five names were put forward for consideration, for the consolidated east end secondary school in the city.
The board wanted a new name for the school, which will amalgamate Moira Secondary School and more than 300 Quinte Secondary students.
On Monday, the name being put forward for recommendation is Meyers Creek Secondary School.
Three hundred fourteen different school name suggestions were put forward late last year and the board whittled that down to five.
They were Belleville East Secondary School, East Side High School, Belleville East Secondary, Gord Downie Secondary and Meyers Creek Secondary.
There were 1,331 votes cast for the five different names, and on December 13 the review committee recommended Meyers Creek Secondary.
The Hastings Prince Edward District School Board will vote on the name Monday.
