A barn fire Friday morning at a wildlife centre near Napanee has resulted in the death of a pig and a rabbit.
Ten fire crews were called to the barn around 11 a.m., which did not have any animals in it at the time.
A representative from the Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre at highway 2 posted to social media saying they will need donations of hay and straw but are still working out the details.
Fire crews were still on scene after the noon hour.
The post stated all staff members, the horses, a goat and most of the pigs are safe.
Napanee OPP set up a detour at Oliver Side Road as Hwy. 2 was closed while firefighters were on scene.
Just before 5 p.m. the highway was reopened to traffic.
The investigation is continuing.
