Construction for the Hwy. 49 Bay of Quinte Skyway Bridge isn’t quite ready to go yet, but council wants to make sure those who live under the bridge won’t be too severely affected by the noise when the work does begin.
Prince Edward County council approved a noise bylaw exemption for the work but council wanted reassurance before they rubber stamp the approval.
CAO James Hepburn told council the work isn’t slated to begin until 2019 but Morrison Hershfield Ltd. are to conduct some exploratory work and meet with staff in January to update them.
Councillors want those who live under the bridge to be offered some noise mitigation measures if not at least consulted.
