Bayside Public School tops the list of Quinte region schools in the annual Fraser Institute Report Card on Ontario’s Elementary Schools.
The rankings are calculated using provincial test results in reading, writing, and math.
3,064 elementary schools were ranked in the last academic year.
Bayside Public scored a 6.6 out of 10, ranking 1206 out of 3,064.
There were 19 schools that scored a 10 with many of them being private schools and most from the Toronto area.
Following closely behind Bayside Public in the Hastings Prince Edward District School board were Foxboro Public and Susanna Moodie of Belleville. Both scored a 6.4.
Doing very poorly in the Hastings Prince Edward Board were Queen Elizabeth schools in Belleville and Picton and Prince of Wales in Belleville.
The top ranked school in the Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board locally was St Joseph in Belleville which scored a 6.4 out of 10. Close behind was Our Lady of Fatima of Belleville and St Gregory school in Picton. Not doing so well was St Michael of Belleville and Sacred Heart of Batawa.
In the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board, local schools topping the rankings were Kent Public of Campbellford and Murray Centennial in Quinte West. Both scored 5.7. Colborne and Smithfield schools finished near the bottom of the board’s rankings.
Cité-Jeunesse of the CÉP de l’Est de l’Ontario scored 5.7 out of 10.
